Founder and Director of The Goalkeeping network
With 20 years of coaching goalkeepers and nearly a lifetime dedicated to learning about the position The Goalkeeping Network was launched. During college Barocas worked goalkeeping camps at University of Central FL and nationally for SoccerPlus Goalkeeping Schools. It was at SoccerPlus where he knew that if he could not play he would coach. He would begin coaching at Averett University in 2001 after finishing his collegiate career with the men's soccer program. In the summer of 2004 he would move on to University of Central FL. Mentoring Ryan McIntosh Ucf made the 3rd round of the NCAA Tournament after winning the conference regular season and tournament. Ryan McIntosh was conference defensive player of the year. McIntosh would later go on to play for DC United and Atlanta Silverbacks.
Continuing to coach, Barocas turned his attention to the study of the position and begun his coaching education in the NSCAA now United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Academy. He would continue working camps for SoccerPlus, run by legendary coach Tony DiCicco. During the winter of 2010 Barocas earned his Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma from the NSCAA now United Soccer Coaches. He would continue a close friendship with Tony after the course, and Tony's influence would guide Chris on his path to developing into one of the country's young up and coming goalkeeping coaches. He would become the director of goalkeeping for Jacksonville United FC, who later became Jacksonville Armada FC. While there he developed 2 youth national team goalkeepers within the club and the club won many state championships and their first national championship with the u15 elite team. The starting goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn would win the Golden Gloves as the tournaments most outstanding goalkeeper.
Following three successful years in Jacksonville he was becoming more sought after as a coach. Orlando City hired him away from Jacksonville in the spring of 2014 to run their goalkeeping program. He would help the girls ECNL program qualify 3 teams for the champions league playoffs, the u16 team would advance to the finals week finishing 6th. During his time at Orlando City he helped multiple gks earn scholarships at D1 and D2 schools. From 2014-2017 there were 3 gks that were regulars in girls youth national team camps from Orlando City's ECNL program. Barocas was invited to coach with the u16 and u17 girls youth national teams in multiple camps during his tenure. In 2016 he was asked to join the development academy and after 4 months with the DA he became the goalkeeping coach for Orlando City B. Goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. was top 3 in most statistical categories in the league, and was league player of the month in July 2017. Having such a good year Earl was recalled from his loan by the MLS team and started their season finale against Philadelphia Union. Jake Fenlason is now starting goalkeeper for St Louis FC, and homegrown Mason Stajduhar, currently starting while on loan at Tulsa Roughnecks, rounded out the goalkeeping corps at Orlando City B on Barocas' watch.
Barocas was pursued and hired by New York Redbulls in November of 2017 to be their head of academy goalkeeping. In December of 2018 Barocas decided to return home to Florida. In April of 2019 The Goalkeeping Network was launched.
