What coaches are saying
Tom Sermani Head Coach New Zealand National Team
Erica Dambach Head Coach Penn State Women's Soccer
I’ve had the opportunity to interact with Chris in a variety of ways over the years and have always been very impressed by his professionalism and knowledge of the game. He has worked closely with several of our goalkeepers, including Rose Chandler (member of the 2014 & 2016 U20 World Cup team), and does an excellent job preparing them for the next challenge. Chris is thorough with his feedback, detail-oriented in his approach, and can relate to players in a way that brings out the best in each of them!
Anthony Pulis Head Coach St Louis FC
Chris is a very professional, hard working & knowledgeable goalkeeping coach. I worked closely with him at Orlando City B & was very impressed by his hunger to learn, his ability to adapt & constantly implement new ideas to improve the goalkeepers. I believe Chris will have a very successful career as a coach at a high level.
Pat Cannon Academy Director Jacksonville Armada FC
Chris was our first full time goalkeeper director at Jacksonville Armada Youth Academy. During his time at the club he put together a goalkeeper curriculum, built a culture amongst the keepers, and produced top talent within the group. While here he sent several goalkeepers off to colleges in D1,2,&3 as well as produced our first 2 youth national team goalkeepers. Chris’s work ethic while at the club was second to none. A lot of what Chris did still resonates within the club years later!
Phillip Poole Associated Head Coach Wake Forest Women's Soccer
I have been very fortunate to come across Chris over the past few years. His knowledge and expertise have been much appreciated.
Chris has been a great GK resource by helping so so many good GK's maximize their potential in order to achieve ’the next level'. I have had the pleasure of working with many of Chris’ GK’s with our youth National teams, and they all show a clear understanding of the position and that they’ve been well coached in a challenging environment. I have seen Chris’ work first hand at the youth, college and professional level.
Ian Barker Director of Coaching Education United Soccer Coaches
Chris Barocas is and experienced and high quality goalkeeper coach and coach educator. Chris has worked with some of the leading goalkeeper practitioners in the US, including World Cup winning coach, the late Tony DiCicco. It has been a privilege to work with Chris in goalkeeper coach education with United Soccer Coaches and to follow his success developing elite youth players in the position. It is a privilege to work with young and accomplished coaches and Chris is among one of the finest of those I know
Sergio Gonzalez Associate Head Coach Ohio State University
I’ve been fortunate to know Chris Barocas for a long time both personally and professionally. First and foremost he’s a quality person. As a professional, it’s a hard to find someone who’s more passionate about goalkeeping and developing goalkeepers. His experience with youth national teams, academies, and universities gives him the ability to develop goalkeepers at all different stages of their goalkeeping journeys.
Tim Mulqueen Head Coach Memphis 901
When I was hired by Orlando City to be the new goalkeeping coach I wanted to make sure that I the club would bring in a USL goalkeeping coach that had a very similar philosophy and could develop goalkeepers to play in the MLS. I met with Barocas and knew he was the person for the job. Not only did our USL and academy goalkeepers improve, but he helped Earl Edwards Jr. to an impressive run in the USL which got him promoted mid-year to the MLS. Our academy 17/19 goalkeepers were regulars in MLS/USL training and performed very well in those environments. We rostered one of our u17 academy goalkeepers for the rest of the USL season because we were confident in his development. That is a true testament to the development platform Barocas helped put in place. I would love to have him on my staff in the future because of his loyalty to the teams he works for and dedication to his coaching development.
Joshua Dunn, Assistant Coach, Virginia Tech Men’s Soccer
It was a pleasure working with Chris on the same staff. His knowledge of the game and specifically the goalkeeper position was invaluable to the program. Chris has a great eye for talent and potential to go along with the passion and expertise to develop goalkeepers at any level. He creates a challenging and caring training environment which allows him to guide athletes to their desired goal. His ability to simplify techniques and tactics of the goalkeeper position, and communicate that effectively, is so crucial to any team or player looking to improve in goalkeeping.
